| After
doing some laundry and cleaning my tent corner today, I headed to
the latrine/head/bathroom to clean my hands from dust and grime...
Looking down I see a blur of movement, so I slow down to examine
what is this wondrous thing that is alive and moving here?
(Most all rodents, bugs, things that move are killed or relocated
for health reasons, so it's amazing to see anything alive)
It turns out that there was a toad, yes a small toad, hopping casually
across a wide area of gravel. Where did this toad come from?
Where has he lived? All questions running through my mind
as I watched him hop along to find moisture. That's the story
of the month, I saw a toad in the desert in an area that is completely
covered with gravel and dirt. |

I just noticed that the new layout of the website is larger than 800
pixels wide (not by too much), thus if you're in 800x600 resolution
you can still see the main portion of the page with minimal scrollbars.
Sorry for anybody with a larger resolution. Working on updating templates and writing more CSS and cleaning up the code (As it is pretty horrible). Also added Google search with my colors, I just like Google, what can I say. Also added link to get Firefox at the bottom of the page and updated Links page. What i've been doing lately: Watching CSI Series (Las Vegas), reading some O'Reilly books (best reference books) on Web Design, Studying Cisco CBT (computer based training). I should be sending out an email soon on my contract status and what's going on with that. Shoot me some mail. Later folks. |

Vacation

The vacation photos have been posted.. *clap* The quality
may seem worse than normal as they have been "webified"
so that I can upload them within a couple hours. The fastest
possible speed I can achieve for upload rivals 56k modem speed.
I know this causes great jealousy, it's okay though. The new
Iraq photo pages will be uploaded soon, so that all the photo pages
will be easily browseable and updatable. |

| I've
taken a few photos and put them on the Artwork site if you want to
take a look. I plan on putting up some more there and the sorted
rest up on here. I redid the front page so it has more content and is also much easier to update. I spent numerous hours standardizing all the graphics so that this page will load quite fast, even on modems or connections as slow as mine. (The whole front page is under 70k now). The standardization also helps me create any size box I want, and can automate posts. Also added a background to the page and transparentinized (new word I made up) all the graphics to coincide. I had a great vacation, was wonderful to see all the people i'm lucky enough to have in my life. Many friends and family members throughout the three states I visited. Photos will posted soon so everybody can get an idea of where I went. The website will be in maintenance in the meantime to change the photos pages so they are more easily scrolled through and viewed. I hope everybody's month of May went well and no unexpected problems. |

I see them running up sandbags or around bunkers. I've caught
three now and released them briefly after examining them.
Reminds me of my childhood, collecting animals and bugs. Once
a scientist, always a scientist I guess eh.
